Edward M. Lawson Biography
Edward M. Lawson (born September 24, 1929 in Gerald, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian politician.

Lawson is currently the second longest serving member of the Canadian Senate, and the longest serving senator to be appointed by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. He was appointed on October 7, 1970. He is a member of the Liberal Party of Canada, but sat as an independent until 2004. he represents the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, and is the former Canadian director of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Lawson served as an independent Senator until 2003 when he joined the Liberal Party of Canada. He is scheduled to retire from the Senate when he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 75 on September 24, 2004.
