Philip Lamantia Biography
Philip Lamantia (b. 1923, San Francisco), is a poet and lecturer.

Lamantia's poetry was first published at the age of fifteen in the Surrealist magazine View when he was fifteen. He later became involved with the San Francisco Beat Generation poets and The Surrealist Movement in the United States.

He studied at the University of Berkeley from 1947-49. He has lectured on poetry at the San Francisco Art Institute since 1978.
